Description

This procedure concerns the terms, conditions and procedure for provision of free meals to HEI students. Beneficiaries: (a) active first-, second- and third-cycle students in Greek HEIs, provided that they do not already holds a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD, respectively; (b) students enrolled as visiting students in Greek HEIs as part of educational or research partnership programmes, whose home HEI is in Greece or abroad; (c) students enrolled as visiting students in Greek HEIs as part of educational or research partnership programmes, whose home HEI abroad is recognised as equivalent to a Greek institution; (d) students temporarily transferring from one Greek HEI to another in accordance with the statutes of the home institution; (e) foreign students granted scholarships by the Ministry of Education who are pursuing undergraduate studies at a Greek HEI.

If the HEI is funded by the state budget and that funding is insufficient to cover the meal expenses of all the students who fulfil the economic criteria, free meals will be prioritised for students who fall under the following categories: (a) students belonging to multi-child families; (b) students who are parents; (c) students who have a sibling currently in the first study cycle; (d) orphaned students who have lost one or both parents; (e) students aged 25 or under who are children of a single mother; (f) students with a parent, child, sibling or spouse who is blind, deaf, has kidney failure, is on dialysis, has Duchenne muscular dystrophy or belongs to a special needs category due to mobility issues arising from a disability of 67% or more; (g) students with a severe illness; (h) students who are children of victims of terrorism.

Students who wish to qualify for free meals and fulfil the conditions set out in the relevant ministerial decision must submit an application for free meals, together with supporting documents, within the deadline specified by the student cafeteria, or by the HEI itself if the HEI does not have a student cafeteria.

            • 1 Financial Unmarried students with annual family income not exceeding EUR 45 000 in the financial year prior to the application, in cases of single-child families. The above amount is increased by EUR 5 000 for each additional child. The above amount is further increased by EUR 3 000 if the sibling of the beneficiary student is also an active first-cycle student. If there is more than one such sibling, the above amount is increased by EUR 3 000 for each sibling.
