Medical
Candidate drivers and drivers, in order to proceed with any procedure concerning their driving licence for which a medical examination is required, must be examined by a doctor of the following specialities: a) Pathologist and the related specialities of general practitioner, haematologist, gastroenterologist, endocrinologist, rheumatologist, cardiologist, pulmonologist, nephrologist and a non-specialist doctor who has been licensed for at least five (5) years. As part of the examination and history taking, the examinee, in the case of a suspected disease of the arthymia, hearing, nervous system, or any other disease for which a specialists opinion is required, shall be referred to a doctor of the corresponding specialty. b) Ophthalmologist, c) Otolaryngologist (compulsory for those over 80 years of age), d) Neurologist or Psychiatrist (compulsory for those over 80 years of age). The aforementioned doctors shall give an opinion on the state of health of the person concerned and issue medical health certificates which must include the obligatory classification of the person concerned as COMPETENT or NOT COMPETENT.

Indicatively, two (2) of the following may be submitted: proof of taxation in Greece, proof of ownership or lease of a house, a document certifying the social security of the person concerned, proof of receipt of education for the children, energy or telephone or water bills, etc.

The aforementioned health certificates shall be accepted by the competent authority if they are submitted within six months of their issue.

Upon receipt of the Greek driving licence, the person concerned is obliged to hand over the UK driving licence and any issued by the UK Driving Licence/Drivers Training Certificate, which are returned to the issuing authority through the diplomatic or consular mission of the issuing country in Greece.
