Notes

This procedure concerns the granting of a licence for setting up and operating a heliport. It is addressed to citizens, private companies, and public institutions.

The average estimated time mentioned refers to the administrative procedures required. The time required for the applicant to complete the construction of the heliport facilities and equipment, as well as any necessary interventions that may be required following the final inspection of the heliport by inspectors of the Civil Aviation Authority, is not taken into account.

If, on the basis of the final findings of the Authority’s inspectors, it is determined that the heliport requires further corrective measures and a new inspection is necessary, an additional fee shall be paid, as applicable, to the Greek State.

Notes:

The application must be submitted in person to the mailing address of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, Athens International Airport/AIA, Building 45, P.C. 190 19, Spata, or electronically (via email: info@hcaa.gov.gr) to the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority/Directorate for the Supervision of Air Navigation and Airports/Division of Heliport Regulations and Supervision, Charts, and Obstacles.

The application must contain: the full details of the applicant; in the case of a legal person, the application must be submitted by the legal person’s representative, together with the legal person’s articles of association.

The application must include: (a) the type and dimensions of the largest helicopter to be used at the heliport; (b) a description of the site and its physical characteristics (ground-level or elevated, and whether it is located in a residential area); (c) the meteorological conditions for conducting flights at the heliport (VMC-IMC); (d) the intention to conduct flights at night; (e) the intention to use visual aids and communication frequencies. The application shall include the full name, address and contact details of the site owner, topographic maps of the area indicating the exact location of the heliport at scales of (a) 1:50,000, and (b) 1:5,000, as well as the coordinates of the site in latitude and longitude (WGS 84 reference system, with an accuracy of one second of arc) and in x and y (HATT and GGRS87 reference systems), together with the elevation of the site above mean sea level (MSL).

            • 1 Legitimate interest The existence of a legal interest in initiating the procedure, through the submission of the relevant application, for setting up a heliport by a private, municipal or public entity. It shall be granted to a government agency, a natural person, or a legal person under public or private law, including local government bodies.
