Description
This procedure concerns the awarding of a pension to authors or artists who have made exceptional contributions to the development of literature or the arts. More specifically, such pensions are awarded to:
- a. Writers, literary translators, philosophical and philological essayists, historical writers – historiographers and scriptwriters.
- b. Translators of theatrical works and playwrights.
- c. Visual artists, scenic artists, photographers, illustrators and cartoonists.
- d. Composers, conductors, musicians and operatic performers.
- e. Composers, lyricists and performers of Greek music.
- f. Directors and actors.
- g. Choreographers and dancers.
- h. Folk artists, especially Karaghiozis puppeteers, puppet makers and marionettists, mime artists and pantomime performers.

The average annual income in the three financial years prior to the year in which the applicant submits his/her application for the pension, including any imputed income, must not be more than 12 times the gross basic monthly pension allocated as at the year 2002 to a public servant with a bachelor’s degree and 35 years of service.
