Description

The procedure concerns the granting of a temporary licence to businesses for the manufacture, modification, assembly, processing or repair of firearms within the State, provided that the prescribed conditions for the establishment and operation of the relevant businesses for the issue of a copy of a certificate of conformity or approval of transfer for the manufacture or assembly of the items are met.

• The manufacture, modification or assembly of category A firearms and category B long-barrelled firearms (other than weapons for shooting or hunting) is prohibited. It is addressed to businesses.

5 Conditions for non-commission of criminal offenses In the case of an individual enterprise, the applicant must not have been irrevocably convicted of a. any misdemeanour prosecuted ex officio and committed with intent, for which a prison sentence of at least 2 years was imposed and b. any misdemeanour provided for by the provisions of Law 2168/93 and Law 3500/2006. Also, the applicant must not have been prosecuted for: a. acts punishable as a felony, b. violations of the laws on drugs and protection of society from organised crime, terrorist acts, violations of provisions concerning fishing with explosives or toxic substances and violations of Article 15 of Law 2168/93, c. acts provided for in Law 3500/2006. In any other case of an enterprise, this requirement applies to all representatives and managers in the case of companies limited by shares and partnerships and to partners in the case of companies limited by shares and partnerships.

Description After checking the supporting documents submitted, a three-member committee, headed by an officer, is appointed to audit the business to ensure that the security conditions imposed are met.

Notes In the case of a factory or laboratory or warehouse licensed by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Technology, an inspection may be carried out to check that the security measures are in place, provided that this is easy to do and does not require any particular technical knowledge on the part of the police officers, in which case the assistance of a qualified official from the competent local Service of Ministry of Industry, Energy and Technology will be requested and a report will be drawn up.

Description The committee shall issue a decision after the inspection of the business. If the required safety measures are not complied with, the necessary measures to be established shall be indicated in writing within a specified period of time, after which the establishment shall be inspected again.
