Citizenship
The applicant must be a Greek citizen, an expatriate citizen or a citizen of a Member State of the European Union, provided that with regard to the latter there is no impediment to public order, public safety or public health.

They must have completed their 18th year of age.

Conditions for non-commission of criminal offenses
They must not have been irrevocably sentenced to any penalty for the crimes of insubordination, desertion, insulting the state, treason, insults against the free exercise of political rights, insults against the exercise of state power, crimes against sexual freedom or for economic exploitation of sexual life, criminal organisation, terrorist acts, falsification, counterfeiting, forgery, deception regarding service, violation of confidentiality of telephone and verbal conversations, theft, embezzlement, extortion or blackmail, fraud, deceit, payment or acceptance of bribes, suppression, drugs, animal theft, smuggling or weapons and explosives charges, regardless of whether or not such conviction is entered in the criminal record of the applicant.
They must not have been irrevocably sentenced to a custodial sentence of more than six (6) months for a crime under Article 7 of Law 2518/1997, as amended and currently in force, or any crime committed with malicious intent.
They must not be temporarily detained, or have been irrevocably committed, for trial for a felony or for any offence under case c, or have been convicted by irrevocable judgement for a felony or misdemeanour under case c). This impediment shall remain valid until an irrevocable acquittal decision is made.

Description The officer who receives the supporting documents shall check that the supporting documents are complete and are properly validated. If the supporting documents submitted by the person concerned are not complete, a reasonable deadline shall be determined, within which fully completed documents must be submitted. Applicants shall also be required to obtain a copy from the competent authority of their criminal record for judicial use, and a certificate from the Court of First Instance at their place of residence declaring that they have not been placed in judicial guardianship (ward of court) and, in addition, a check shall be carried out by various sources of the Hellenic Police.
