|process_remarks=The European Insurance Card does not replace travel insurance. It does not cover private healthcare, nor costs such as a ticket for the return flight to the country of origin or loss/theft of property. In addition, it does not cover the costs if the insured person travels specifically to receive medical treatment. Finally, it does not guarantee that services are provided free of charge, as each country’s healthcare system is different; services that are provided free of charge in the country of origin may not be free of charge in another country.
N.B.: if normal residence is transferred to another country, registration is required using the S1 form instead of using the European Health Insurance Card, in order for the insured person to receive medical treatment in that country.
