The procedure concerns the granting of suitability licence in trade fair centres, which are permanent sheltered areas of at least 500 square meters as well as in trade fair spaces, which are permanent sheltered mixed areas of at least 2.000 square meters.

Note: According to the definitions of article 2 of Law 4512/2018, the trade fairs are held exclusively in trade fair centres and spaces that are permanently sheltered in the aforementioned area squared meters. The organisation in open-air public, municipal or private spaces is characterised as an activity related to trade fair and is taking placing according to the provisions of par.9 and 10 of article 115 of Law 4512/2018. It has to be noted that in cases of activities related trade fairs the following terms are not allowed in the distinctive title: “exhibition”, “commercial exhibition”, “international exhibition” and “international commercial exhibition”.

• 1 Urban planning The use of the space in order to organise trade fairs shall be allowed by the construction or building permit.

• 2 Urban planning In addition, the space shall meet the following prerequisites: - It shall have auxiliary and storage spaces - It shall have emergency exits - Accessibility shall be ensured - It shall have fire-safety areas and hygiene - It shall be accessible to the disabled - It shall comply with the requirements of the building and urban regulations - It shall have a free height of at least 4 metres in at least 75% of the total area - It shall ensure the possibility of access or entry of cranes or trucks, have parking space for trucks and private cars (in accordance with requirements set by the institutional framework, Law 4512/2018, art.114, par.4) as well as shall have warehouses for the for packaging materials.

• 7 Urban planning The proportion of parking spaces shall be one (1) space per thirty-five (35) sq.m. of trade fair area (total gross area of trade fair centre or space). In any case, the minimum number of parking spaces may not be less than twenty-five (25) spaces for trade fair spaces and one hundred (100) spaces for trade fair centres. If the parking spaces inside the property of the trade fair centre or trade fair space are not sufficient to cover its needs, this can be done by using legal parking spaces at a distance of up to eight hundred (800) meters from it. When the car park is farther away from that referred to in the preceding subparagraph, the use of free-of-charge buses exclusively for the carriage of expositors and visitors is required. In this case, the parking spaces and the relevant proofs of their use and of the rental of buses are submitted with the announcement of each trade fair to the relevant Municipality.
