Description

The procedure concerns the issuance of a certificate of registration to citizens of the European Union, the European Economic Area and the Swiss Confederation, who are to reside in Greece for a period exceeding three months from the date of their arrival as members of the family of a citizen of the Union, who resides in the Greek territory as an employee or non-employee or economically inactive person or student in accordance with article 7 par. 1 of Presidential Decree 106/2007.

        Request for treatment or hierarchical appeal pursuant to article 24 of Law No. 2690/1999. The person concerned may request, either from the administrative authority which issued the act, its revocation or amendment (application for cure), or from the authority which is in charge of the authority which issued the act (Attica and Thessaloniki Aliens Directorates, Chora Police Directorates), its annulment (hierarchical appeal). The administrative authority to which the application is submitted must notify the person concerned of its decision on the application within thirty (30) days at the latest, unless a different deadline is provided for by special provisions.

            • 3 Time limit Union citizens who are going to stay in Greece for a period exceeding three months from the date of their arrival, are obliged, after the expiry of the three-month period, to appear in person at the competent police authorities of their place of residence for registration.

            • 4 Family The issue of a Certificate of Registration for citizens of the Union requires that Union citizens certify the existence of a family relationship with the Union citizen or a stable relationship with the Union citizen, in cases falling under Article 3, par. 2(b) of P.D. 106/2007.

            • 5 Financial The granting of a Certificate of Registration for Union Citizens requires that the Union Citizen and/or his/her spouses children over 21 years of age, as well as direct ascendants, are dependent on the Union Citizen.

            • 6 Family The issue of a Certificate of Registration for Citizens of the Union shall be subject to the condition that the citizens of the Union falling under par. 2 (a) of Article 3 of Presidential Decree 106/2007 and are family members of the Union citizen, irrespective of their nationality, who do not fall under the persons defined in paragraph 2 of Article 2 of the Presidential Decree, are dependent on the Union citizen who has the same right of residence or live under his/her roof in the country of origin or where serious health reasons make it absolutely necessary for the Union citizen to take personal care of the family member in question, or are dependent on the Union citizen who has the right of residence.
