Conditions for non-commission of criminal offenses
They must not be fugitives from justice or have been finally or irrevocably convicted of theft of antiquities; robbery; intentional homicide; smuggling, possession, use of or trafficking in drugs; exploitation of prostitutes or human trafficking; statutory rape; rape; sexual assault; theft; forgery; fraud; embezzlement; illegal fishing using explosive, chemical or plant materials; intentional shipwrecking; under the law on intermediaries. Description
Once the person concerned has been granted the certificate of submission of the application, he/she must then be deemed qualified following an oral and practical examination by a three-member committee appointed by decision of the Head of the Port Authority.
Notes
Those who hold a certificate in Underwater Demolition or from a Hellenic Navy Diving School and have served in the Underwater Missions Unit of the Hellenic Coast Guard, as a combat diver specialist, are exempt from the examinations.

Medical certificates attesting to fitness to work as a scuba diver, after examination by a pathologist or general practitioner, cardiologist, pulmonologist/tuberculologist, psychiatrist, ophthalmologist or doctor specialising in hyperbaric medicine. The doctors referred to above may practice privately or in public hospitals and, if necessary, may collaborate with doctors of any speciality (private practice or public hospitals) in order to provide the person concerned with the corresponding certificate attesting to his/her suitability to work as a diver.
