Notes:
The application is submitted to the competent Regional Directorate of Citizenship of the applicants place of domicile or to the competent Greek consular authority, where the applicant is permanently domiciled abroad. If the applicant has juvenile and unmarried children, they must list such children in the application in order for them to acquire Greek citizenship as of the date of the declaration.

A special administrative appeal may be lodged against decisions issued by the Regional Directors of Nationality and decisions issued ‘pursuant to authorisation’, within 30 days from the date the applicant was notified of the decision of rejection. The appeal lodged in accordance with the foregoing must be accompanied by a fee receipt for EUR 100. The Minister of Interior shall decide on the appeal within an exclusive deadline of 60 days from the date the appeal was lodged with the Ministry of Interior.

Description
A child who was born to a Greek mother and who lost Greek citizenship due to legitimation or recognition by a foreign father may reacquire Greek citizenship if they declare their will to do so to the Secretary-General of the Region or to the Greek consular authority of their place of domicile or residence. The children of persons who acquire Greek citizenship in accordance with the provisions of this article shall become Greek if, on the date of the declaration, they are juvenile and unmarried.

Description
The application must be submitted to the competent Regional Directorate of Citizenship to which the municipality where the applicant was registered is subordinate, or to the competent Greek consular authority, where the applicant is domiciled abroad. The application must be submitted by the applicant in person or by proxy or by post. When the application is received by the competent Regional Directorate of Citizenship, it is issued a reference number, it receives a file number and is assigned to the competent department.

The reacquisition of Greek citizenship is communicated to the applicant and to the jointly competent services so that the applicant can be re-registered in the municipal rolls and male registers (in the case of male persons).
Notes
If juvenile and unmarried children were listed in the application, they shall be entered in the parent’s family register in the municipal roll, and the date on which they acquired Greek citizenship is the date of the applicant parents declaration.
