Description

The procedure concerns the issuance of a certificate of registration to citizens of the European Union, the European Economic Area and the Swiss Confederation, who are to reside in Greece for a period exceeding three months from the date of their arrival as members of the family of a citizen of the Union, who resides in the Greek territory as an employee or non-employee or economically inactive person or student in accordance with article 7 par. 1 of Presidential Decree 106/2007.

Request for treatment or hierarchical appeal pursuant to article 24 of Law No. 2690/1999. The person concerned may request, either from the administrative authority which issued the act, its revocation or amendment (application for cure), or from the authority which is in charge of the authority which issued the act (Attica and Thessaloniki Aliens Directorates, Chora Police Directorates), its annulment (hierarchical appeal). The administrative authority to which the application is submitted must notify the person concerned of its decision on the application within thirty (30) days at the latest, unless a different deadline is provided for by special provisions.

1 Citizenship The granting of the Union Citizens’ Registration is subject to the possession of a citizenship of a Member State of the European Union, a country of the European Economic Area or of the Swiss Confederation.

2 Establishment The granting of an Enquiry for Citizens of the Union presupposes that citizens of the Union reside in Greece.

3 Time limit Citizens of the Union who are to reside in Greece for more than three months from the date of arrival shall be required after the end of the quarter to appear in person to the authorities responsible for handling matters of foreign police authorities at their place of residence for registration.

4 Family The granting of a Union Citizens' Registration requires that citizens of the Union certify a relationship with the citizen of the Union or a fixed relationship with the citizen of the Union, in cases falling within Article 3(2)(b) of the DC 106/2007.

5 Financial The granting of a certificate for Citizens of the Union shall require that the over 21st children of the citizen of the Union and/or his/her wife, as well as the direct unemployed, are maintained by the citizen of the Union.

6 Family The granting of a Union Citizens' Certificate requires that Union citizens in case (a) of paragraph 2 of Article 3 of the PD 106/2007 who are members of the Union's family, irrespective of nationality, who do not fall within the meaning of paragraph 2 of Article 2 of the PD, are maintained by the person having the same right of residence as a citizen of the Union or living under his or her roof in the country of origin or where serious health reasons make personal care of that member of the Union, or maintain the right of residence of a citizen of the Union.

7 Conditions for non-commission of criminal offenses The granting of a Union Citizens' Registration requires that, to the detriment of citizens of the Union who reside on Greek territory as members of a Union citizen family, no restrictions have been imposed on their freedom of movement and residence for reasons of public policy or public security.
