Notes:

Until the licence holder reaches the age of 45, each lifeguard licence will remain valid for a period of four years and will be renewed within 6 months of its expiry. Between the ages of 45 and 55, each lifeguard licence will remain valid for 2 years and will be renewed within 6 months of its expiry. Between the ages of 55 and 60, each lifeguard licence will remain valid for 1 year and will be renewed within 6 months of its expiry.

    This applies to candidates from 18 to 45 years of age. Recent (issued within the last month) certificates or attestations from medical doctors specialising in psychiatry, dermatology, general or occupational medicine and cardiology, whether private or from public hospitals, showing that the applicant is mentally healthy, does not suffer from a contagious disease and is medically fit to practise the profession of lifeguard.

    Notes: When the health certificate / medical certificate is issued by a public hospital, then a clear copy of the original must be submitted. When the health certificate / medical certificate is issued by a private doctor, then a clear copy must be submitted which has been generated from a copy previously certified by a lawyer. Electronic medical certificates issued in accordance with the procedure described in Joint Ministerial Decision No 4062/02-8-2021 (Official Government Gazette, Series II, No 3549) are also accepted.

    This relates to candidates aged between 45 and 60 years of age. Recent (issued within the last month) medical certificates-attestations from physicians specialising in General or Occupational Medicine, Pulmonology – Phthisiology, Psychiatry, Ophthalmology and Dermatology, certifying that, within the scope of each physician’s specialty, the applicant a) is not suffering from a contagious disease and b) is medically fit to carry on the profession in question. A health certificate-attestation from a cardiologist, certifying that the applicant is not suffering from a cardiovascular disease must also be submitted.

    Notes: PHOTOGRAPH SPECIFICATIONS The photograph to be used must have a width of at least 450 pixels and a height of 513 to 531 pixels. Sizes smaller than this will not be accepted, but larger sizes may be accepted if they have the appropriate height/width ratio (from 1.14 to 1.18). For example, a photograph with a width of 1000 pixels will be allowed if its height is between 1140 and 1180 pixels. If the attached photographs do not comply with these specifications, they will not be accepted.

  • 2 Educational The person concerned must be a graduate of the Department of Physical Education and Sports of a higher education institution – a Greek university, with a specialist diploma in swimming or other water sports or a graduate of an equivalent foreign school.

  • 3 Health The person concerned must not suffer from any contagious disease.

  • 4 Ability The person concerned must be medically fit to practise the profession in question and must not suffer from any cardiovascular disease.

  • 5 Possession of passwords to enter software To submit the application online via the gov.gr portal applicants must have TAXISnet codes.
