Description

This procedure concerns the receipt of emergency alerts aimed at the timely notification and protection of citizens within a defined geographical area, in cases of hazardous phenomena, natural disasters or other critical incidents, following registration on a platform available on the 112 webpage, for the geo-targeted sending of alerts via short message service (SMS), electronic mail (email) or automated voice calling (AVC) to a fixed or mobile telephone. Remarks: the procedure is also available in English.

Registration procedure for the Registered Citizens Notification Service 112 GR-Alert via the platform on the 112 webpage.

Notes:

In order for citizens to receive emergency 112 alerts via SMS, email and voice calls, they are required to register with the Registered Citizens Notification Service 112 GR-Alert.

Upon registration with the Service, citizens may choose to receive alerts for up to three (3) declared locations of interest, irrespective of whether they are physically present at those locations at the given time.

For each declared location, the citizen may select the preferred means of receiving alerts (SMS, email or voice call to a mobile or fixed telephone).

              Description Following the previous steps, the page ‘My account’ is displayed, where you can create your personal account for the service. Specifically, you are required to complete: A) Personal details i) First name, the user’s name ii) Surname, the user’s surname iii) A password, which must consist of: • at least 12 characters; • at least one capital letter; • at least one lower-case letter, • at least one number and • at least one special character (e.g. !@#$?) iv) Password confirmation, re-enter your password v) Email address, which must be the user’s personal email address B) Address details You may enter up to three (3) different addresses. For each address, you may select the method by which you wish to receive 112 alerts concerning emergency situations in that specific area. The alert methods available per address are as follows: a) email message: enter the user’s personal email address. b) text message (SMS): enter the user’s personal mobile phone number so that they can receive SMS messages from 112. (c) voice call to a mobile phone: enter the user’s personal mobile phone number so that they can receive calls from 112. (d) voice call to a fixed telephone: enter the user’s personal fixed telephone number so that they can receive calls from 112.

              Notes To enter an address, you may either search for the address or select a location on the map by following the steps below: B1) Entering address by searching address details Step 1: select ‘Add Address’. Step 2: enter your address details in the ‘Search Address’ field. As you type the address, search results matching your criteria will be displayed. Step 3: confirm the address details (street, number, city, postal code) and the selected point on the map. When you select the red pin on the map, detailed information about the selected location is displayed, namely: • address: • municipality • postal code • longitude • latitude • notification method Step 4: select ‘Save’ and return to your account details. B2) Entering address by selecting a location on the map It is possible to add an address by selecting a point on the map, by following the steps below: Step 1: select ‘Add Address’. Step 2: leave the ‘Search Address’ field blank and select the icon if the address is within an urban area. If the address is outside an urban area, select the icon. Step 3: place a pin on the map at the desired location. The cursor on the map is marked with a cross. Use the Ctrl key and scroll to zoom in on the map. On a mobile device, tap the map to place the pin at the desired location. Step 4: confirm the address details (street, number, city, postal code) for the selected point on the map. Step 5: select ‘Save’ and return to your account details. If the address is invalid, an error message is displayed and you may try again or select a different point on the map.

              Description To complete the registration procedure, you must select the field ‘I am not a robot’ as well as accept the consent statement for the processing of personal data. You then select the ‘Register’ button. To complete your registration for the service, you are required to check the confirmation message sent by email from the address noreply@112.gov.gr with the subject line ‘Completion of registration for the 112 Notification Service’ and to select the relevant link in order to confirm your email address.

              Notes Once your email address has been confirmed, you will be redirected to the 112 webpage, where the following message will appear: ‘The registration procedure has been completed successfully.’
