Family status certificate concerning the parents, issued by a Greek municipality: this procedure concerns the issuance of a family status certificate from the Civil Register where citizens’ family records are kept. Citizenship
The Greek nationality of the applicant’s parent, the time and the legal basis for acquiring Greek nationality are checked.

Family
Birth within wedlock to a Greek parent and a foreign spouse is required, and the form of the parents’ marriage is checked in order to establish whether the applicant is a legitimate child of the Greek parent (especially the father) and was born within a valid marriage entered into by the Greek parent up to 17 July 1982 or an invalid marriage entered into by the Greek parent up to and including 7 May 1984.

The applicants date of birth is checked in order to establish that, at the time they were born, their parent had not acquired Greek nationality or that the applicant was born before 18 July 1982 to a Greek father and a foreign mother or before 8 May 1984 to a Greek mother and a foreign father.
